thanks very much for uploading this mono mix. I only have one speaker in my room at the moment, and you find out pretty quickly how much of a stereo mixdown this song had. All you get in the right speaker is tambourine, bass and vocals.

I remember singing this song as a little kid in the 70s. It hits a little different as an adult 🤣

That slight pause to the vocal at 2:46 is hallmark to the mono single vs stereo cut. I've always preferred this version.

For many years the Reading Phillies staged a dizzy bat spin competition and played this song during the action. Two people attending the game that night, usually kiddos, were selected to hold their nose to the end of a bat held against the ground and spin around the bat ten times. They then ran a short distance. First one to cross finish line won a prize, if they could run straight.

Good car chase rhythm for a movie possibly.

Yeah WABC played an edited version, which went straight into the "love, love, love, love'" coda after the second bridge. When I bought the 45 I was NOT expecting the "freak out" section at all, and when it started I was like "What the hell?" I thought it sounded awful, and apparently so did the Buckinghams, who didn't know the producer was going to add it. The "backward" voice (which isn't backward) going "Nasus" is especially asinine. I still hate it. It was very disappointing to not be able to buy the radio version, but I figured out how to edit the mp4 in Logic Pro, so now I finally have the version that they played on WABC. :)

Even on a relatively noisy backdrop (no disrespect) the 45rpm rendition of this classic sounds absolutely alive and full of character. I was hearing tone characteristics and details I never heard before. Excellent playback! Thank you.

I hated this song when it came out = thought it was very uncool. But now that I enjoy the swing era, I love this one!
